Kagiso Trust is a development agency in South Africa that wants to make the country better. They focus on education, building institutions, improving the economy, and making sure things are fair for everyone. They have been working for 30 years and have spent a lot of money and done many programs and Internships to help people.

Kagiso Trust is dedicated to creating a society in South Africa that is prosperous, peaceful, fair, and just. They strive to address poverty by creating and implementing development programs that are effective, sustainable, and can be replicated on a scale.

Their main areas of focus include improving education opportunities, strengthening institutions within the country, promoting socio-economic development, and ensuring long-term financial viability.

Over the course of 30 years, Kagiso Trust has made significant totaling over R2 billion towards various development projects. They have successfully implemented more than 1,831 programs aimed at bringing positive change to individuals & communities across South Africa.

Description:

Purpose of the Internship: The Trust is committed to youth skills development by providing graduates with an opportunity to gain work-based experience. Unemployed graduates are invited to apply for the following internships:

  • Programme Management & Research Internship
  • Communications and Marketing Internship,
  • Education Internship,
  • Company Secretariat & Legal Internship,
  • Civil society Support Programmes (CSSP) Internship,
  • HR Internship,
  • Finance Internship,
  • Local Government Support Internship,
  • Socio-Economic Development Internship and
  • Policy Development Internship.

Graduates should be between the age of 18 and 35. The Internship program will run for a period of twelve (12) months.

Programme Management and Reasearch Intern:

Department: Programme Management, Strategy and Reasearch Department

Key Performance Areas:

Work based exposure may include the following:

  • Administer documentation of work of programmes or projects of the Unit (PMO) documents
  • Conduct research on internet and/or in the field and compile research reports, articles and/or factsheets
  • Monitor and report global and national trends and emerging issues relating to Kagiso Trust programmes
  • Conduct administration work for research activities
  • Organise programmes meetings and compile meeting reports

Qualifications and Experience.

  • Certified Grade 12/NQF 4 level certificates.
  • Certified Copy of Diploma or Degree in Project management, Business Studies, Social Sciences (Research) Qualification.

Communications and Marketing Intern:

Education Research Internship:

Work based exposure may include the following Key Performance Areas: 

  • Researching Education Policies, national and international education policies
  • Data collation and Analysis:
  • Assist in documentingthe implementation process of KT’s Education Development Model
  • Keeping the Pillar abreast with Education Trends and research reports
  • Conduct beneficiary feedback for monitoring purposes.
  • Handling research-based queries
  • Identify areas that can be advocated and backed by research.
  • Administer the learning management system, ensuring its smooth operation and address user queries related to the KT learning management system.

Company Secretariat & Legal Internship:

Work based exposure may include the following:

  • Arrange and facilitate board and committee meetings.
  • Statutory returns and correspondence with the regulators.
  • Drafting of resolutions.
  • Review of policies and other relevant governance documents.

  • Certified Copy of a Chartered Governance certificate/equivalent

Civil society Support Programmes (CSSP) Internship:

HR Internships:

Department: HR Department

Key Performance Areas:

Work-based exposure may include the following:

  • Assisting the HR team with all HR administration, which will include Administration and coordination of all staff files, Payroll administration, reception relief, etc.
  • Collating training-related data, including confirmation of training venues and dates
  • Preparing and compiling interview packs.
  • Assist with induction and orientation of new staff, compiling welcome and starter packs
  • Maintaining the HR calendar, assisting HR with scheduling of various programs including performance reviews, etc

Finance Internships:

Work based exposure may include the following:

  • Provision of financial services
  • Capturing of payments on AP and Online banking
  • Capturing of receipts on AR, etc
  • Asset management
  • Asset count, tagging, etc
  • Audit preparation
  • Audit documents preparation (Pulling out invoices according to schedule)
  • Internal control system
  • Assist in updating risk registers
  • Ad hoc projects

Policy Development Internships:

Department: Policy Development Department

Key Performance Areas:

Work based exposure may include the following

  • Tracking and monitoring of legislative and policy developments in South Africa and the SADC region
  • Identifying networks, stakeholders, and platforms to engage policy and decision makers
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to coordinate policy advocacy initiatives and events
  • Drafting of key legislative and/or policy documents
  • Compiling of monthly and quarterly reports

Qualifications and Experience.

  • Certified Grade 12/NQF 4 level certificates.
  • Certified Copy of Degree in Development Policy, Political Sciences, Economics or relevant Humanities or Social Sciences qualification.
  • Certified copy of your ID.
  • Certified copy of Academic Transcript.
  • Your CV and motivational letter.
